Wanneer ik op vakantie ga, heb ik de gewoonte aangepast leesvoer mee te nemen, m.a.w. boeken die zich afspelen op de plaats van mijn verblijf.
Het valt me op dat bepaalde plaatsen zich beter lenen tot bepaalde genres.
Zo vind je over Cornwall en Ierland bijvoorbeeld vooral feelgood romans, terwijl je over Spanje eerder historische romans vindt.
Zoek je dan weer verhalen die zich afspelen in grootsteden als Parijs, Londen en New York, dan vind je beide.
Thrillers spelen zich ook vaak af in steden.
Dus, in plaats van me volgende vakantie af te vragen welke bestemming ik zal kiezen, kan ik me beter afvragen welk genre van boeken ik die vakantie wil lezen ...
